GCP Servers Down

All servers on my Google Cloud account are down as my trial has expired.

These are: PoC-1 (InfoSec PoC server), GCP-NdT3-1 (VPN), Research 02

I am in the process of setting up a new server for PoC-1.

GCP-NdT3-1 and Research 02 will not be set up again as at this time, I do not have the money required to keep these servers running.

The one PoC that was still running at the time has now been set up.

For the company that needs to fix that subdomain takeover: Please note that the URL has changed, however a redirect has been set up so the original link in the email should still work.

I have also now realised that part of my website monitoring system was hosted on this server (SMS messages for downtime of important services). This will not be reconfigured due to the high cost of keeping downtime SMS notifications running. I do have other notifications set up though.

Client Panel Auth Timeout

Attempting to log in to the client panel may result in a timeout and the following error:

When enough funding can be obtained, this panel will be moved to a different server and there is a possibility of a rewrite of the auth system from our current provider to a custom developed system. However, at this point, the client panel may become obsolete.

CDN

The CDN may go down as I am moving the DNS to a different provider.

Done. The CDN should be a lot faster now as it is now running behind Cloudflare

Status Page API

I am aware of an issue with the status page API which can result in a comment for one incident also being added to another incident:

The root cause of this issue is currently unknown. It will be fixed when I have enough time available (probably only in December).

This appears to be fixed now.
After adding some logging in the code and monitoring the responses from API updates, I have found that the issue was caused by the code trying to add comments even if an incident didn't have any comments. This resulted in the previous incident's comments being used.

Client Panel Outage

Accessing the client panel currently shows the following error:

Only the it.wd.ndt3.me domain works (so this status page should be updated) but all subdomains of that (including internal ones) return the above error.

At this time, the root cause of the issue is still unknown and the hosting provider is not offering much help.

Due to the limited time I have available for my website development work at this time, this issue may only be fixed later in the year (possibly in December if I am unable to find enough time before then).

The root cause of the issue was determined to be a permission issue on the folder which contained each of the systems. This has now been fixed.

Scheduled Maintenance

The client panel (and possibly parts of this status page) may go down 18 July 2019 for up to 6 hours as the hosting provider will be changing control panels due to price increases.

The client panel (and possibly this status page) will be down on May 10, 20:00-21:00 UTC for a network upgrade.

The hosting provider for the client panel and main status page backend is going down for maintenance on May 13, 16:00 - 22:00 UTC. During this time, the client panel (and possibly status page (backup server is down for a migration to the new data center)).

The client panel will be down for scheduled maintenance on Saturday 2 March 2019. During this time, the client panel may not work and it is recommended to not use it until the maintenance is finished. The maintenance will be done in order to move the client panel (and all related systems) to a new domain. The NdTWeb website may also be moved to a new domain in this maintenance period. Parts of this status page may be unavailable as it runs on the same hosting account as the client panel.

The client panel maintenance is now finished. Hopefully everything still works as intended.

Uptime Monitoring System Issues, Again

The uptime monitoring system is again marking the client panel as being down when it is up and returning the correct keyword.

The hosting provider for the client panel will be doing scheduled maintenance on Saturday. The host will be moving from Google Cloud to a dedicated server.

There is again an issue with the uptime monitoring system which is incorrectly showing the client panel as offline. The client panel is online and the provider of the monitoring system has been notified of the issue. I am awaiting their response.

The uptime monitoring system is not working as expected. This is resulting in the client panel being incorrectly marked as down (it is actually up and working fine).

The monitoring system has been fixed.

At first I thought that this was a DNS issue but the DNS records on the server are now pointed to the correct IP. I will contact the host as this seems to be an issue with the server software.

The web host server is now up again, however, there is still an issue with the client panel. I think I have determined what is causing it but I will need to verify this with the host.

Found this:




Trying to get it sorted but as the host is in another country, timezones will make it difficult to communicate with them.
